As most of you already know, November 4th was Election Day. AFSCME-endorsed candidates had a good day.

The biggest story of course was the election of our first African American president, Barack Obama. We scored well with our other candidates for Congress, as well as for the State Legislature. More than 75% of AFSCME endorsed candidates won their races.

Voters in Milwaukee County also passed the sales tax referendum, which was a vital first step in a long process to bring much needed relief to our parks, our transit system, and our Emergency Medical System.

Voters in the City of Milwaukee also passed the paid sick leave referendum, which will allow all workers in the city to enjoy the basic privilege of not having to fear for their jobs if they are sick or if they have a sick child.
