We Need Good Jobs Now Protest In Madison

Posted by Chris Liebenthal on December 23, 2010

Monday, January 3rd will be a dark day for public employees as Scott Walker takes office.

A silent protest will be held on the Capitol Square in Madison from 11:15 – 12:15 on Monday, January 3rd.  Signs reading “WE WANT GOOD JOBS NOW!” will be available at 10:30 am at The Argus Bar and Grill in the basement, 123 E Main Street, Madison.

Buses will be available for those who would like to ride them.  They will be leaving from the Talgo parking lot at 27th and Townsend at 6:30am.  In order to ride the buses you must RSVP at: 414-207-8165. The groups riding the buses will be involved in a few other actions in Madison, for more information on this please contact me directly.

For those interested, One Wisconsin Now will also be hosting a charity event to counter the political fundraisers that Scott Walker will be holding later that day.  Details below:

ROCK THE PANTRY

One Wisconsin Now will host “Rock the Pantry,” a progressive rally to help feed Wisconsin at Madison’s historic Majestic Theater the day of Wisconsin’s 2011 inauguration.

All proceeds from tickets will go directly to charities directly assisting people hit hardest by the economic collapse.

In 2006 – proceeds from Governor Doyle’s inauguration festivities benefited the Boys and Girls clubs.

In 2010 the proceeds from Governor-elect Walkers festivities will benefit his campaign and the RPW.

“Rock the Pantry,” which will celebrate the energy and dedication of Wisconsin progressives, is a stark difference to the political fundraisers planned forinauguration day by Republican Gov.-elect Scott Walker that fill his campaign account and Republican Party of Wisconsin coffers.”

Please join us at the Majestic, Monday, January 3rd to celebrate the season of giving.

“Rock the Pantry” will be held at the Majestic Theater on King Street in Madison from 7-10p.m. The event will include progressive speakers, DJ Andrew Larson from Saturn’s 8 and live music. A full entertainment line-up will be announced this month.
